Galicia is home to more than 40 protected areas, a network safeguarding the region's diverse landscapes. These sanctuaries span from the rugged Atlantic coastline and pristine islands of the west to the dense, ancient forests and mountainous interiors found inland. The terrain includes granite massifs, deep river canyons, coastal dunes, and expansive wetlands, offering a wide range of natural environments.
