This simple but atmospheric statue of Francis of Assisi stands along the Camino del Norte in Viveda. In 1214, St Francis of Assisi slept in Viveda on his pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela.

a mousy process to go up/down and thus shortcut if you go to Barreda/Requejada/Polanco

A small and cute wooden bridge, I didn't expect it in that place and I really liked crossing it, also very useful to be able to cross over the deep creek full of brambles.

The monument is the work of the sculptor Mercedes Rodríguez Elvira from Torrelave and is modeled in bronze. His weight is 500 kilos and he is 2.50 meters tall. It represents a young San Francisco pilgrim in a place where legend and historical chronicles place him on his way to Santiago.

Beautiful hike on the Camino del Norte. The paths are each marked with yellow arrows or on the ground with the typical Camino shell. This path leads along a railway track. The path is wide enough to avoid a train. This path is officially forbidden, but all pilgrims followed this path, so at their own risk. Alternatively, take the train for one stop. There are various hostels for pilgrims or possibly hotels. I chose Hotel. Overnight in Santillana del Mar at Hotel Colonial. Hotel recommended, right on the Way of St. James.
