The chapel was built in 1473 in the Gothic style. Originally, it belonged to the Coburger Siechenhaus, a medieval hospital for people with infectious diseases (such as leprosy). For this reason, it was also dedicated to Saint Nicholas, who is, among other things, the patron saint of the sick and needy. What makes the St. Nicholas Chapel so special is its varied use. After the Reformation, from 1529 onwards, it was used for Lutheran services. Catholic: From 1806, it served the newly founded Catholic community of Coburg as their first home before they moved into the larger St. Augustin church. From 1873 to 1932, the chapel was used by the Jewish community as a synagogue. A Hebrew inscription above the west portal ("This is the gate to God") still reminds us of this time. Since 1962, it has been used by the Old Catholic community of Coburg as a place of worship.

The Judentor (Jew's Gate) is one of three surviving city gates in Coburg. The gate tower marked the western boundary of the city center and was part of the inner city wall. The city gate, probably built in the early 13th century, was first documented in 1321 as the Judentor (Jew's Gate). The gate tower was built on the floodplain of the Itz River. The name Judentor (Jew's Gate) refers to the Jewish community of Coburg, which was located west of the Judentor in the 14th and 15th centuries.

A small rose garden with a few sculptures. Unfortunately, there's no description of who they are. The fountains in the garden were all dry, and there weren't many rose blossoms to be seen.
