Old village church dating back to the 9th century. The Gospel has been preached on the site of St. Magnus Church since the 9th century. Excavations by Professor A. E. van Giffen have shown that the current church building was preceded by a series of wooden structures, likely built in the 9th and 10th centuries. Besides stream valleys, there are scrublands here. Look it up, and you'll have a better chance at your next Scrabble.

It is a very beautiful route, beautiful viewpoints! But make sure you can jump ditches or wear waders. Around Oudemolendiep you have to make several jumps to be able to continue following the path and regularly stood up to your ankles in water/mud. Definitely not an easy route.

For families with young children looking for an easy, circular walk, the Gasterse Dunes route is an excellent choice. It offers a manageable distance of around 7.4 km with minimal elevation gain, allowing families to enjoy the beautiful heathland scenery without too much exertion.
While many trails are natural paths through varied terrain, some sections, particularly around the esdorp villages and on wider forest paths, may be suitable for robust strollers. However, for full accessibility, it's always best to check individual route descriptions on komoot, as some heathland or sand drift areas might be challenging for standard buggies.
The park is beautiful year-round, but late summer (August-September) is particularly stunning when the heathlands, such as Gasterse Duinen and Balloërveld, bloom with vibrant purple hues.
