Brigitte Reimann City Library Cloth factory, school building, and residence in the oldest building in the city The house at Berliner Straße number 38 is demonstrably the oldest building in the city of Burg. It was first mentioned in documents in 1589, but it is suspected to be much older. In the 19th century, the house served as a cloth factory, where a major weavers' revolt took place in 1808. In 1835, the house became a school building and served as a residence for teachers. When the Catholic parish acquired the property, the barn on it was used as an emergency church from 1839 until the inauguration of the Church of St. Johannis Baptist in 1906, and priests moved into the house. In 1902, the building served as a residential house for eight families and later also as a cigar and chocolate shop (1925). In 2007, the house was handed over to the public after extensive renovation work. Today, behind the charming half-timbered facade, lies the "Brigitte Reimann" City Library. It is named after the writer Brigitte Reimann (author of, among others, the book "Franziska Linkerhand"). Special features of the educational institution with a museum character include a "Black Kitchen" and the book collection by and about the Burg writer Brigitte Reimann. Numerous readings, projects, and information and cultural events for all ages take place here. https://www.touristinfo-burg.de/sehenswertes/architektur/stadtbibliothek-brigitte-reimann.html

The Burg bei Magdeburg train station is located in the northwest of the city and was opened in 1846 on the Berlin–Magdeburg railway line. The facility is a through station with three platforms and several listed buildings, including the station building, a water tower, and a crane system. Between 1896 and 1965, the transshipment station of the Jerichower Kleinbahnen also existed about 500 m from the main station. During this time, further freight facilities, connections, and an expansion of the station building were built. After the closure of the local railway, the main line was modernized several times. The station forecourt received an award in 1999 as "the most beautiful in Saxony-Anhalt". https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bahnhof_Burg_(b_Magdeburg)

The listed Bismarck Tower in Burg, dating from 1906, is a stately landmark in honour and memory of Reich Chancellor Prince Otto von Bismarck. The 27-metre-high observation tower, constructed from granite and clinker, stands on the Windmühlenberg – an offshoot of the Fläming ridge. The construction of the Bismarck Tower originated from an idea by some 20th-century Bismarck admirers. Thanks to a call for donations, financing was secured, allowing the Bismarck Tower to be ceremoniously opened in 1907. The local association Heimatverein Burg und Umgebung e.V. campaigned for the tower's renovation in 2004, which made it possible to access the tower for the Bismarck anniversary in 2007. https://www.touristinfo-burg.de/sehenswertes/tuerme/bismarckturm.html

The train station is well laid out and in good condition. A good calling card for Burg. The bus station is reminiscent of a gas station 😉
