The historic adit of a former iron ore mine. In this wooded area between Langenhain and Lorsbach, mining was carried out intensively, especially in the 19th century, around 1870. The mines there primarily extracted brown ironstones and iron ores found in the Taunus slate, which were partly transported to the historic Taunus Hütte in Höchst. The fact that the entrance is so neatly walled today and secured with a massive iron gate has an important reason: the old, disused mine tunnel now serves as a protected winter quarters for bats. Many of the historic tunnels in the Hessian forests have been deliberately preserved and barred as part of nature conservation, in order to offer the animals an undisturbed retreat, while at the same time preventing people from entering the underground passages, which are at risk of collapse. As the spoil heap areas and tunnels are located in the forest east of Langenhain and the area drops steeply towards the valley, this relic is a fascinating testimony to the regional industrial history in the Main-Taunus district.

The Reinecke-Weiher is an idyllic, small body of standing water in the forest-rich Kasernbach area, stretching across the border region between Wiesbaden and the Main-Taunus-Kreis near Hofheim-Langenhain and Wiesbaden-Medenbach. Geographically, the area belongs to the catchment area of the Klingenbach and the Wickerbach system. Together with neighboring bodies of water such as the Orje-, Ritter-, and Herzog-Weiher, the pond forms a biologically valuable chain of ponds. The system is fed, among others, by the nearby Kasernbach (the upper course of the Weilbach), which originates on the edge of the Domherrenwald. From an ecological perspective, the Reinecke-Weiher, as the highest pond in this chain, holds significant importance for local nature conservation and amphibian protection. In the past, the water body served as an important refuge and spawning ground for common toads and other amphibians, but like many forest waters in the region, it suffers from the influences of artificial fish stocking and eutrophication (over-fertilization), which hinders the natural reproduction of sensitive species. For local recreation, the protected pond is a quiet haven: it lies directly on popular regional hiking and circular routes, such as the route between the geological sinkhole "Grube Fremdt" and Usinger Straße, and invites walkers to observe nature in the dense forest area.

Since the end of the 17th century, the Bonnemühle mill has stood at the mouth of the Schwarzbach stream, which was then called the Goldbach. In 1909, the cellulose and paper manufacturer, Privy Councillor Philipp Offenheimer, acquired the former grain mill, which he used as a summer residence. Due to the abundance of water, Offenheimer had deep wells drilled. The water drawn from these wells was piped to the cellulose factory, where it was used for paper production. After paper production ceased (in 1970), an artificial marshland was created, which was drained starting in 1972, along with the still-visible drainage system. Today, the area is an important refuge for birds and other animals.
