The name Julius for this adit was chosen in memory of a foreman who worked here for many decades. The entrance to the Julius adit - closed for safety reasons (!) - is located here in direct proximity to a seating area and a memorial stone illustrating the legend of the mythical "Kaulenmännchen".

Christiane Völkel has expressed an interesting thought on the inner connection between the Christmas nativity scene and the cross of Good Friday. To those lingering at this Way of the Cross – with which Christians always commemorate the suffering of Christ, but also the Easter perspective of hope for the resurrection – I would like to pass on her consideration for the rest of their journey: + “Jesus, who appears to us as a failure on the cross, begins his Way of the Cross [already] at the nativity scene for me… Just like the cross, the nativity scene also speaks of the triumph of love – in God’s way, which Jesus has given us for our life’s journey. For me, the nativity scene and the cross are the door to believing hope in God.”

In the concluding words of the Way of the Cross prayer with the Holy Father, which takes place according to ancient tradition on Good Friday in the Roman Colosseum, Pope Benedict XVI summarized in 2006: + „In the mirror of the cross, we have seen all the sufferings of today's humanity. In the cross of Christ, we have seen the suffering of abandoned, abused children, the threats to the family, the division of the world in the arrogance of the rich, who do not see Lazarus at their door, and the poverty of so many who suffer hunger and thirst. But we have also seen stages of consolation. We have… seen that just as suffering does not cease, neither does consolation.“

The Gasthaus Göbelsmühle is located directly on the Endert and is one of the few serviced refreshment stops along the route. Here you can take a quiet break and recharge before continuing your way through the wild and romantic valley. Its location in the middle of the Endert valley makes Göbelsmühle an ideal resting point on the tour between Ulmen and Cochem.
