The Kaltenbronn high moor lies southeast of Gernsbach, above the Reichental district, in the middle of a huge forest area in a primeval landscape with cirques and block fields. It belongs to the forest area of the city of Gernsbach. The high moor, located at an altitude of over 900 meters, has been a nature reserve for over 60 years. The development of the high moor can be traced back around 10,000 years.

The tower, built in 1905, today serves as both an observation point and a transmission mast for SWR. A free glass elevator leads to the viewing platform at a height of 23 meters. From there, a panorama of approximately 700 meters above sea level offers views ranging from the Rhine plain across the Murg valley to the French Vosges. In addition to the view, the summit plateau is a center for hikers and a well-known starting point for paragliders.
