After the moderately challenging climb, the landscape opens up to the plateau. Simply beautiful. We had a picnic here and watched the sheep grazing, their bells ringing.

Not a highlight, but the start of the hiking trail and an opportunity to briefly walk along or into the river for a refreshing dip.

The small, wooden sacred monument that the hiker encounters here is a crucifix, i.e. a depiction of a cross with the body of the crucified Christ. The diamond-shaped back wall and the gable roof provide some protection from the effects of the weather. At the top of the longitudinal beam is the INRI inscription. The letters mean (as an abbreviation in Latin) "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews". Also striking are the many rosaries that visitors to the cross have brought with them and left here.

We were there at the end of May 2024 and parked for free. When we returned, the relatively small parking lot was about half full.
