In one pasture there are 🦙 llamas, and in another pasture there are alpacas. Both species belong to the same family.

Beautiful poplars line the banks along the Aa. They belong to the willow family and prefer to grow near streams and banks. They were and are often cultivated for timber, paper, and energy.

The "LWL-Museum Textilwerk Bocholt" is one of only 8 museums for industrial culture in the Westphalia-Lippe region. It consists of 2 locations: weaving mill since 1989 (on the right of the Aa), previously only called "textile museum" and spinning mill since 2012 (on the left of the Aa) called "textile factory". The textile industry has had a strong influence on Bocholt and the entire region (including Rhede, Vreden, Gronau, etc.). For over 450 years, imported BW from overseas was spun and woven in Bocholt. At first, almost every family had a loom and weaving was done at home. But with the start of industrialization, towards the end of the 18th century, this changed suddenly. Weaving mills were opened everywhere and people then went to the factories to work. The entrepreneur August Cornelius Tangerding bought the first steam engine in Bocholt for his BW spinning mill in 1852. The industry boomed especially between 1870 and the First World War. In Bocholt alone, there were up to 80 textile companies, which at times employed up to 10,000 people. In the mid-1960s, the structural crisis also began in WML (Westmünsterland) due to increasing competition from the Far East. Many companies closed and thousands of people lost their jobs. In the midst of the structural crisis, the regional assembly of the LWL decided to set up a textile museum in 1984. (Source: LWL Museum Textilwerk)
