The Marienkirche in Gardelegen is an outstanding example of Brick Gothic architecture and serves as the city's main place of worship. The church's origins date back to around 1200, when a smaller Romanesque church was built on this site. In the 13th century, it was expanded into a five-aisled hall church with a square west tower. After a devastating city fire in 1306, the long choir was rebuilt with a five-eighths closure. At the end of the 15th century, the nave received an elevation and vaults. A dramatic incident occurred on May 15, 1658, when a large part of the church tower collapsed during a service, costing 22 lives. The reconstruction of the tower dragged on until 1691. The church houses several significant furnishings, including a four-winged, fully gilded altarpiece from around 1430, depicting the Coronation of the Virgin. Further altars from the late 15th century and a double figure of Anna Selbdritt enrich the interior. The organ by Christoph Treutmann from 1723, restored in 2013, has 25 stops and is an outstanding musical feature of the church. The Marienkirche continues to be used today for services, occasional ceremonies, and concerts. Between June 2022 and September 2023, extensive renovation work took place to improve and preserve the church's furnishings.

The St. George's Chapel in Gardelegen was first documented in 1362 and was originally part of a hospital for infectious diseases outside the town fortifications. In 1734 it was renovated and extended, with the original steeple being replaced by a massive tower with a baroque dome. An earlier carved altar from the 16th century depicting Anna Selbdritt was later transferred to St. Nicholas' Church. After 1990, the chapel was converted for exhibitions and today houses a model of the town of Gardelegen around 1600. It also serves as a venue for cultural events such as concerts.
