February 1, 2026, Pilgrimage Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (Greising)

A Marian image has been venerated at this location since 1672. A chapel was built for this purpose in 1692, which was expanded into a Baroque hall church between 1724 and 1728 by the Deggendorf architect Ulrich Stöckl. It consists of a three-bay nave and a three-sided apse to the east. The eastern bay of the nave is flanked by semicircular chapels, resembling a transept. Integrated into the west facade is the square roof tower, topped with an onion dome, whose uppermost story contains the bell chamber. A porch in front of the tower leads to the portal. The interior spaces of all parts of the building are spanned by groin vaults. The high altar and the side altars were erected around 1725. There are plenty of parking spaces, so it's a good starting point for a hike in the Bavarian Forest.

The "Kreuzfelsen" vantage point on the Steinberg is a worthwhile stop. From here, you can enjoy a beautiful view down to the plains with Plattling and the Danube. On a clear day, you can even see as far as the Alps.
