Quietly clatters the mill A very nice bike tour as you can see in the pictures
5-star tour – simply fantastic! Nothing more can be said!
First day in the land of mill routes: I felt like I passed 20 windmills, some of them very well restored, on the tour. Highly recommended circuit!
Our starting point was Petershagen. Right next to the castle 🏰 you can park easily. Of course I had to take a photo. When I got back to the starting point my husband was gone🤷♀️So I called him, luckily there are cell phones. Once we were reunited we set off. But first we stopped for a coffee 😂🎂☕️Today the tour went from mill to mill. A really great tour. And beautiful mills, with a few exceptions. One or two were not quite as beautiful. But it went through a lot of nature😃🌳Great paths, water, mills, everything was there👍🏻😃🚴🏻♀️🌳🍰
Wonderful tour of Petershagen on part of the mill route. Very good and low-traffic paths, especially the section on the Kleinbahnradweg. Saw many worth seeing mills. In Südhemmern there is even a liberation hall (toilet) 😊. Then a short stretch on the Mittelland Canal in the city of Minden, which is always worth seeing, then on the Weser back to Petershagen.
So ... the second mill route is done! Today in the company of my wife, and around Minden. It started from Hille in the direction of Nordhemmern, where we met the circular route relatively quickly. The first mill that awaited us on our route was the Greftmühle in Nordhemmern. From there it went via Nordhemmern, Holzhausen and Stemmer to the windmill in Stemmer. After the windmill in Stemmer, a short time later we drove on the old railway embankment, which leads from Stemmer via Südfelde to Friedewalde. A somewhat rougher but very nice route. This section was only interrupted by the Grossenheider Königsmühle in Todtenhausen. At the end of the train / bike route, the windmill was in Friedewalde (Wegholmer Mühle). From there we cycled on easy-to-use roads to Meßlingen, where a beautiful mill with a well-designed outdoor area awaited us. In our opinion, from the overall picture, the most beautiful mill on the route. After we had had enough of seeing each other, we continued via Maaslingen, Eldagsen and the ice cream parlor Dolomiti 😋🍨in Petershagen to the Petershäger mill. This mill was also very handsome. On the Weser cycle path, along the Weser, we made our way to Minden. We also paid a short visit to the Valentine's Mill in Todtenhausen. The destination in Minden was the ship mill. And what can I say: It was Sunday, it was warm and it was jam-packed at the ship's mill. So quickly on to the Rodenbeck mill, which unfortunately is in need of renovation. The next plan was to take a break in the Hahler Hafen, to visit the mill in Hartum and also to say "Hello" to the Südhemmer mill. This was then also carried out. At the mill in Südhemmern we then left the route and headed for our home. Once again it was a great tour with great sections of the route. I gave a 👍 for this route.
The lap I drove is a section of the "Westphalian Mill Route". Information on this at https://www.westliches-weserbergland.de The mill route leads through a varied landscape on largely low-traffic paths.
Today we worked through the "Mühlenroute im Mindener Land" from the memo, although there can be no question of work, because 90% of the time you drive on asphalt, away from busy roads and with a flat route profile. This is where the north German plain begins. Even those who are not interested in windmills can expect a scenic tour. First along the Weser to Petershagen and then across the plains, along the route with a beautiful section of the railway path. Finally, water visual contact again at the finish line along the Mittelland Canal. The path along the canal seemed more attractive to us than the off-road route. If you feel like it, you can still explore Minden with its various high lights. Worthwhile tour!
