Whether as an official competition or a personal challenge - the 13 Summit Sky Marathon takes you to the limits. As you have probably already guessed, you will climb a total of 13 peaks and all of this on a complete circuit of the Glemmtal. 47 kilometers and around 3,000 meters in altitude are a statement! Do you dare? Then mark August 20, 2022 in your competition calendar.
Even the start is tough: directly below the wire ropes of the Schattberg X-Press you fight your way up the steep meadow. Don't expect any serpentines, but rather a direct path up into the summit world. Arrived at over 2,000 meters, in addition to the Medalkogel, the Manlitzkogel and Tristkogel, another ten summit crosses are waiting for you to pay them a visit.
During the event you can use the signs to find your way around and refresh yourself and recharge your batteries at refreshment stations. You need that too! Only after around 35 kilometers do you have a chance of breaking off and you can float down into the valley with a train. Even if the route demands your full concentration and physical condition, you can look forward to fantastic far-reaching views and a spectacular Alpine panorama.
With the Hochalmspitze you climb the last peak. From here it tends to go downhill. The final section leads again steeply across meadows down into the valley and to your destination. Let yourself be celebrated, you deserve it!

Comments
During the warm-up, I noticed that I had sore glutes and hamstrings. Despite this, I was still in the lead up to the Schattberg, but I suffered from start to finish.
I had a mental and physical meltdown at the 4h and 5h stages. I never got into zone 3 (40/40/20% zone 1-3) until Schattberg. …
