This weekend I joined the Netwalkers led by Sabine Holicki. Coming to a corner of Germany that is – certainly not only – unknown to me was very appealing. After the first hike and a very good city tour, I am thrilled. We are staying right on the harbor in the former guesthouse of Landgrave Carl von Hessen. A great atmosphere, especially outdoors on the harbor and on the Weser.
For my second tour during my detour to the Weser Uplands, today I went to the Weser Skywalk and a section of the Weser Uplands Trail. Right after starting in Bad Karlshafen, I climbed steeply uphill along the Klippensteig to the Weser Skywalk on the Hanover Cliffs. From there, there are fantastic views along the Weser Valley. After a short break, I followed a beautiful forest trail that provided a pleasant coolness despite the high temperatures. Shortly before the descent to Bad Karlshafen, a lounger on the Sohnrey Heights invites you to rest and enjoy the beautiful view.
The hike rewards you with a magnificent view of the Weser River, the baroque town of Bad Karlshafen, and the Reinhardswald Nature Park. And the sun 🌞 even made an exception and stayed true to the weather app's forecast.
This great hike was with Jürgens Reisen Bad Nenndorf.
Today a little late afternoon sun round on foot! 😊
Highly recommend Skywalk in the morning at this time of year! Next we are mainly on path tracks in the direction of Sohnreyhöhe, also one of my favorite places near Karlshafen.
Great hike with lots of sun! First along the Weser in the direction of Würgassen, then from there up the wooden path to the Skywalk. Great view from there. Then on to Brüggefeld and the deserted village of Schmessen, a few finds from the 13th century. Continue through the forest on winding paths back to Karlshafen. Top hike!🤗
