Hiking

We accompany you on a splendid and relaxing coastal excursion between white beaches and fascinating cliffs, along one of the southernmost headlands of Sardinia. The last place to park is at the beginning of S'Acqua Durcidi beach, as the road to Cala Cipolla is closed to vehicular traffic.

From the car park, follow the small road that immediately leads to Cala Cipolla beach. The path continues at altitude and then climbs up to the suggestive lighthouse of Capo Spartivento, with its fascinating history and its privileged position. After going around the building, go down to the Cove of the Tower, where you find an old pier.

The path, now narrower, passes a crossroads and descends towards Ferraglione beach. From the beach, go up and then down to the splendid Cala di Sa Perda Longa. Continue along the road that rises to an excellent panoramic point, with a view that sweeps across the entire coast up to Cape Teulada. From here, take the wider road that goes up to the summit of Guardia Manna, the highest point of the route.

Finally, go down the road to Cala Cipolla, retracing the route to the starting point.

Capo Spartivento Lighthouse

Highlight • Monument

Built in 1854 by the Italian Navy, the lighthouse testifies to the historical importance of the place, being part of a series of lighthouses commissioned by Vittorio Emanuele II of Savoy, as evidenced by the wrought iron initials on the entrance door. Although it suffered damage during World War II, it was later rebuilt. Today, the lighthouse has been transformed into a five-star hotel, offering from its top a spectacular panoramic view of the entire southern coast of Sulcis.

If you approach from the east, from Cala Cipolla, a closed door may initially cause concern, but it is important to know that, although it prevents vehicular traffic, it is open to pedestrians.

A beautiful route with a great view of the sea 😁. Free parking is no problem during the off-season. But the best part was... seeing a hoopoe for the first time in years.

The path is easy to see, but in parts it is very difficult to walk on as it is very rocky and washed out. I would recommend sturdy shoes and long trousers as possible as there are sometimes scratchy thorns. I would also recommend walking the path so that you do the coastal part last. There are some beautiful bays to jump into the water. So don't forget your swimming trunks and towel. Most of the path, especially inland, is without shade. So don't forget sunscreen, a hat and water. Spectacular views of the bays are the reward.

Nice round trip. You should be able to walk well. Sneakers with non-slip soles are recommended. You will be rewarded with a changing, very beautiful landscape. The 8 km cannot be completed quickly due to the partly loose, steep ground.

Hiking at Capo Spartivento in Sardinia is a highly recommended adventure. This stunning loop offers breathtaking coastal views, with numerous small bays and secluded beaches to explore along the way. The hike combines natural beauty with historical interest, featuring impressive cliffs, pristine beaches, and a scenic lighthouse at Capo Spartivento. The route is perfect for nature lovers and those looking to experience Sardinia's rugged charm. 🏖️🇮🇹

The departure point is easily reachable by car, the parking lot is just before Cala Cipolla, once you have left the car and passed this last cove you arrive in a few minutes at the lighthouse of Capo Spartivento. Once you reach the lighthouse, turning right, you go up towards the only hill in the place "sa guardia manna" from which you can admire a panorama of all the beaches of Chia to the left (E-SE-S) and of the coast of Tueredda and Capo Malfatano to the right (S-SW-W), until you see the profile of Capo Teulada. Afterwards, you go down towards the interior and near the main road, you turn left and head towards the small beach of "sa Perda Longa" preceded by dunes of very fine sand. After the beach, continuing to the left, one of the most characteristic stretches of the area begins with views of the sea, low vegetation and granite rocks that leads to the stretch of sand in front of the Ferraglione island known for the nesting of seagulls.

Nice hike to the lighthouse, near Cipolla beach. Over the hill to the next bay, the Petra Longa beach, after that we are a bit off the path (careful, there are also many prickly plants among them) 😅 scrambling over the large rocks 😃 please only wear sturdy shoes, the rocks are very rough from the wind and the salt from the sea 😮. A quick swim and snack in a small bay and on we went, back to the lighthouse and Cala Cipolla, by the way, a very beautiful beach 😍 Have fun LG Kathy
