The climb to the top of Mount Sa Guardia Manna is rewarded with an amazing view over the entire Cape Spartivento and beyond. It's challenging but beautiful.

Embark on a moderate hike to the historic Capo Spartivento Lighthouse, a 3.5-mile (5.7 km) ring tour with an elevation gain of 506 feet (154 metres). This route takes about 1 hour and 40 minutes to complete, offering impressive coastal views of cliffs, turquoise sea, and pristine beaches like Cala Cipolla. While much of the path is accessible, some sections are rocky and washed out, so wear sturdy shoes. You will also encounter scratchy thorns, making long trousers a good idea. Be aware that much of the inland path offers little shade, exposing you to the sun.

The starting point for this hike is often near Cala Cipolla, where parking is available. However, the road directly to Cala Cipolla may be closed to vehicular traffic. Consider doing the coastal part of the walk last to fully enjoy the bays and views. Remember to bring sturdy shoes for rocky sections and long trousers to protect against thorns. If you plan to take a dip in the sea, pack your swimming trunks and a towel.

The Capo Spartivento Lighthouse, built in 1854 by the Italian Navy, is the primary highlight and the southernmost point of Sardinia. It played a role in WWII, was later restored, and now operates as a luxurious five-star hotel, offering panoramic views. Beyond the lighthouse, the landscape features high granite promontories, sand dunes, and Mediterranean scrub. You can also enjoy views of Capo Malfatano and Tuerredda Island, and further inland, the area is known as a resting place for pink flamingos.
