Basilica of the Fourteen Holy Helpers (Basilika Vierzehnheiligen)

Highlight • Religious Site

The mountain up to the pilgrimage basilica is tough. Especially in the upper area it gets really steep and the thighs have to work properly. Step in, you can do it!

The brewery right has existed since 1803. Since there was no successor in 1989, the brewery was sold to the Trunk family, who renovated it from the ground up and built the Bräustüberl, the hall and a beer garden.
Not only the dark Nothelfer beer is a hit, but also the organic white beer that has been available for a number of years is my personal favorite, especially in the summer months. There is also a beer and a lager. From Ash Wednesday to Easter, a Lastenbock and from Easter to September the Scheffeltrunk Kellerbier. There is also a harvest beer from September to October and a festival beer and a Silberbock during the Christmas season. However, it is difficult to get a seat in the beer garden, especially during the summer.

On the high plateau at Staffelberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

The landscape between Staffelberg, Spitzberg and Lerchenberg is always worth a detour. Because every season the flora offers a completely new picture: from flowering meadows and fields with bright sunflowers to short grasses and individual bushes. The plateau is a feast for the eyes in both summer and winter.

Staffelsteiner Kreuz

Highlight • Monument

The Staffelstein Cross is a well-known landmark on the Staffelberg, a prominent hill in the Franconian region of Bavaria, Germany. Known for its stunning panoramic views, the Staffelberg is a popular destination for hikers and nature lovers. The Staffelstein Cross is one of several crosses on the hill, often called "patriarchal crosses" or weather crosses, facing each cardinal direction.

Staffelberg

Highlight • Viewpoint

Great view over large parts of the Bad Staffelsteiner and Lichtenfelser area. With a small hospitality hut and sufficient seating outside. Several great paths up and down and connection to the surrounding forests.

It's an absolute must to drive/walk up to the Staffelberg and enjoy the fantastic view... not to mention the hearty snacks and delicious cakes that are available up there 😍

Adelgundis Chapel on the Staffelberg

Highlight • Religious Site

The first Adelgundis chapel on the Staffelberg was destroyed during the Peasant Wars; today's chapel was consecrated in 1654. A hermit's hermitage was then built, which was replaced by a new building at the end of the 19th century. Today the hermitage, which was a hermit accommodation until the beginning of the 20th century, serves as a restaurant. One of the residents, the hermit Ivo Hennemann, became famous through Victor von Scheffel's "Frankenlied". Adelgundis, the namesake of the chapel, is regarded in the Catholic Church as an emergency helper in the event of serious illness and danger; she died at the end of the seventh century as the abbess of one Monastery in France.

At the end of the day, up the holy mountain. One of the most beautiful moments.
Unfortunately, Monday and Tuesday are closed 🙈... and drinks too... but the backpack is always with you. 😉.
At times, you have the mountain all to yourself.
So beautiful at this time of year!

Autumn hike from Vierzehnheiligen to Staffelberg. Always beautiful, especially with the leaves changing color and sunshine!
The hike starts at the car park, up to the basilica, past various places to stop for refreshments, a short while further along a path along the plateau, we come to Staffelberg. Here you are rewarded with a magnificent view if the weather is …

Today I spontaneously took advantage of the nice weather and walked from Staffelberg to Vierzehnheiligen and back again. Parked the car at the hiking car park below Staffelberg near Romanstal and walked the mostly sunny path to Vierzehnheiligen. Walked backwards on Staffelberg and enjoyed the great view.

Finally went on a nice trip to the Staffelberg again 🏔️ with my daughter 😃The weather was really great and, as always, we couldn't miss a stop at the Staffelberg Klause.

Beautiful hike from Vierzehnheiligen to Staffelberg. Great view from the high plateau, refreshment stop in the Staffelberg Klause and a small Adelgundis chapel worth seeing. A visit to the Fourteen Saints Bastion is of course recommended.

Once you've immersed yourself in the opulence of the Vierzehnheiligen pilgrimage church, a natural contrast is just what you need. The Staffelberg is the perfect starting point. If you're standing directly behind (from Bad Staffelstein only during the week) or in front of the barrier at the upper parking lot, you've already covered quite a bit of elevation, so the …
