The slate dump above Dürrenwaiderhammer is more than just a storage place for overburden. It offers valuable habitats for rare mosses, lichens and flowering plants. At the slate table in front of the abandoned slate quarry, the view goes through the valley of the Oelsnitz to Dürrenwaid. The FrankenwaldSteigla 12-Apostel-Weg and the Geroldsgrün geoppath lead directly past the slate heap. The slate table is an ideal resting place for a hike.
