August 25, 2021,🇦🇹 herrlichste Natur an den Giglachseen 🗻
Although we started the day again today with rain (I actually like the sound of the rain at night 😃) and the mountain peaks were even more cloudy than on the previous days, the sun fought its way bit by bit through the cloud cover. While we made a stop in Saalfelden and then drove towards Dachstein, the clouds released …

The clouds were very low today🌫 and rain and thunderstorms were reported for this afternoon. Nevertheless, we implemented our plan and took the bus🚍 up the seemingly endless serpentines🤢 up to the Quellealm (1604 m). The toll road costs €19.00 for cars and €5.00 for bicycles.
Once we got to the top, we had to decide whether we wanted to …

The Giglachseen are surrounded by a magnificent mountain backdrop and can be reached from all sides. The fastest ascent is from the end of the toll road on the Ursprungalm. The two lakes, consisting of the upper and lower Giglachsee, form the heart of the western Schladminger Tauern and are a popular hiking destination.

Sometimes things just don't go as planned. ✨
From the Ursprungalm up to the Giglachsee Lakes – a tour I'd been looking forward to for a long time. But the climb felt endless and rather dull. While the lakes were beautiful at the top, I couldn't truly enjoy them until after a break at the Ignaz Mattis Hut. 🏔️

From the Ursprungalm via the new Ursprungquellweg and the Historischen Römerweg it goes up to the Preuneggsattel.
From there, turn right or left around the Giglachseen.
With the new original source path, you save yourself the steep ascent via the forest road.

A fantastically beautiful hike to the Giglach lakes 😍 Even the ascent to the Ursprungalm by bus on a gravel path was exciting...

The Giglachsee are beautifully embedded in the landscape. For us, the upper Giglachsee is the most beautiful so far. The path is worth it, even though it goes up from the Ursprungalm, steep, rocky and in the blazing sun.
The Ignaz-Mattis-Hütte is also beautifully situated above the lake. Good food!

Beautiful tour with great views. Unfortunately, the first 1.5 km are not recorded because my cell phone was on strike.
