Under this hill and all around on the battlefield lie the corpses of over 2000 peasants who rose up against their merciless feudal lords in the Peasant Wars and fought for more freedom and rights. Here they met the feudal army of Pappenheim in the Battle of Gemundn in 1626, which slaughtered them all.
