“Goal: Pico Ruivo (1,862 m), Madeira’s highest peak. But the PR1 route (Pico do Arieiro → Pico Ruivo) is still closed due to the huge fire (until April 2026), so we improvised and hitchhiked ~40 km from Pico do Arieiro to Achada do Teixeira to catch the sunset at the summit.”
