The "Holy Well" in Duisburg's city forest goes back to a bronze axe that was found here, which is around three thousand years old. Since it shows no signs of use, it is assumed that the axe could have been a kind of "gift to the gods". In any case, the spring is mentioned from 1563 onwards as the Marienquelle and later as the Holy Well. The stone enclosure was created in 1935.
