Hike a scenic section of the Pacific Crest Trail from Grassy Hollow to Jackson Flat, an easy 1.3-mile (2.1 km) route that takes about 36 minutes to complete. You will gain 264 feet (80 metres) in elevation as you explore this path. The trail offers amazing mountain views, with panoramic vistas that can stretch from the high desert all the way to the ocean and Catalina Island on clear days. You will pass through green areas with diverse tree cover, some showing new growth after past fires. Near Jackson Flat Campground, look for the concrete observation tower with its spiraling staircase; it provides excellent viewpoints.

Your hike begins at the Grassy Hollow Visitor Center. Remember that you will need a Big Pines Parking Pass to park your vehicle there. Be aware that snow can linger on the trail, especially during winter months. In some sheltered areas, snow might even be present as late as July, potentially obscuring parts of the path. Plan your visit accordingly to ensure a clear and enjoyable experience.
