The construction of the monastery began in 1317 and lasted for several years. Today the monastery represents a jewel of cultural and artistic value and is part of the Republic's heritage.
Several elements of the monastery were lost over time, especially during the severe earthquake of 1667. However, the south church portal still bears witness to the church's original beauty.
