This land is owned by the local Native American Tribe. When entering the area from Palm Springs a toll booth where you will pay your entry fee. After paying the fee all of the Indian Canyons trails are accessible and you will notice sings for the three canyons. It is advised to park at the trading post and make sure all your water is toped off before you hit the trial.

The Fern Canyon, Vandeventer, and Victor Trail Loop offers a moderate hiking experience through varied desert terrain. You will encounter both arid landscapes and surprising green oases, making for a dynamic journey. This 6.6-mile (10.6 km) loop involves an elevation gain of 810 feet (247 metres) and typically takes about 3 hours and 2 minutes to complete. Look forward to well-maintained singletrack paths and dry washes, with the Fern Canyon Oasis providing a notable visual landmark along the way.
Before you head out, be aware that this trail is located on the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians Reservation, so an entry fee is required; it is usually $9 for adults. Parking is conveniently available directly outside the Trading Post. Remember to bring plenty of water, especially during warmer months, as sun exposure is significant on this desert hike.
This route provides a unique blend of desert and lush oases, including Palm Canyon, which is home to North America's largest oasis of California fan palms. The contrast between the surrounding desert and these vibrant green areas makes the trail particularly distinctive. You will find the Fern Canyon Oasis about 1.75 miles into the hike if you choose to go clockwise.
