Embark on a moderate hike to the entrance of Fulford Cave, a journey that takes you through a beautiful alpine forest. You will ascend through aspen and spruce/fir trees, experiencing switchbacks designed to ease the steep climb. This 1.2-mile (1.9 km) route, with its 620 feet (189 metres) of elevation gain, offers rewarding views of the surrounding mountains and Yeoman Park. Expect to complete this trail in about 51 minutes, reaching a unique natural landmark.
To reach the trailhead, be prepared for gravel roads; a high-clearance vehicle is recommended, especially if there has been recent rain. If your plans include entering the cave, you must secure a permit from the U.S. Forest Service beforehand. Note that the cave is closed annually from October 15 to April 15 to protect bat populations, so plan your visit accordingly. Always check current conditions before heading out.
