In the 1880s, the area around Mount of the Holy Cross was a densely mined region. People were prospecting for lead, manganese and gold. The buildings you see today are relics of an old mining town that was home to 300 people. There was a post office, boarding houses and even a hotel. Unfortunately, just four buildings are left today.
