The Santa Cueva de Covadonga is a natural cave and a point of pilgrimage for Catholics, as it is believed to be the place where the Virgin Mary appeared to the Christian army during the Battle of Covadonga in 722. The cave is now a small chapel with a statue of the Virgin Mary in the center.
