The Hunting Island Loop offers a captivating journey through South Carolina's coastal wilderness, blending dense maritime forests with expansive saltwater marshes and pristine sandy beaches. This moderate 9.2-mile (14.8 km) hike, with a gentle 41 feet (13 metres) of elevation gain, can be completed in about 3 hours and 43 minutes. As Hunting Island State Park is very popular, plan to arrive early to secure parking and avoid the busiest times. An entrance fee is typically required to access the park, which is well worth it for the diverse scenery and abundant wildlife you'll encounter.
