It got its name in 1885.
The path is named after Princess Anna.
Her husband Prince Otto zu Stolberg-Wernigerode was a well-known German politician and e.g. Vice Chancellor under Otto von Bismarck.
The Annaweg was not always called that.
It was created in 1730 as the "Upper Tube Path" in connection with the castle water pipe, which led from the Eierberg-Hartenberg mining area to a basin on the Agnesberg.
