The 42 m high Gothic tower is the last of what used to be 3 gate towers and formed the town entrance and town exit to the west. The tower was first mentioned in a document in 1279, when the wealthy citizens bought the entire city fortifications from the count and were now able to collect customs duties themselves. It also served as a debt tower, i. H. here those citizens had to serve fines who did not pay their debts.
