Sfakia Fortress (Castel di Sfacia) was built on Kastelli Hill on the eastern outskirts of Sfakia town (Chora Sfakion) and was the last Venetian fortress in Crete. It was built during the 15th-16th Built on the site of an earlier Byzantine fort, it was built in the late 19th century. Information about the castle is very scarce, but it was first mentioned in documents from 1526.

I didn't even notice the fortress but Chora Sfakion is a great little place. At least out of season with some great bays.
