Hiking

According to legend, in 1725 a French rider on patrol in the Black Forest is said to have pursued a girl over the Rappenfelsen. The girl reportedly survived the jump from the rock into the Brennersloch unharmed, while her pursuer is said to have fallen to his death. Today, a wooden votive tablet on the rock, bearing the year 1725, commemorates this event. It was once supplemented by a cross and two carved wooden figures. These, however, are now kept at the forestry office in Furtwangen to protect them from theft.
