From the Simonswaldertal leads the L173 over a side valley over to Furtwangen. The ridge at Neueck has to be overcome, from Obersimonswald there are 540 vertical meters. The slope, however, is moderate and moves very evenly around 8%. The road is well developed and it runs with the road bike here very smoothly. However, there is a lot of traffic at times, cheap times are midweek or weekend, before the motorcyclists wake up.
