The closed shaft entrance of shaft III of the former Hercynia potash mine is only a little above the Weddebach. Anyone walking along here at ease will just see a beautiful forest. But how amazed you are when you learn that an important industrial complex existed here 100 years ago. Mine with shaft, buildings, roads, rail connection.
In 1928 there was a bad accident here. Water ingress underground. After a few hours, the mine had to be abandoned. Everything was dismantled. Since then, the forest has taken the place back.
