The Buttenturm is a particularly well-preserved part of the medieval city fortifications. Not least because of its semicircular shape and its white facade, it is a striking building. An interesting architectural construction is also the access via a bridge from the Old Ditch.

The Buttenturm (Butten Tower) in Gelnhausen is part of the medieval city fortifications dating back to the 14th century. Originally called the "High Tower," it later received its name from its shape, reminiscent of a wine butt. It stands on the Alter Graben (Old Moat), is well-preserved on the outside, and features a striking white plaster finish. Today, it is part of the historic city tour, but is usually not accessible from the inside.
