    Hiking

Built in 1241, it served as a Cistercian nunnery until the Reformation (Note: Actually, they were Benedictine nuns who, after the fire of the monastery church in 1278 and its reconstruction, lived according to Cistercian rules. However, they never joined a Cistercian convent). They introduced fruit cultivation to the region.

In 1892, the Leipzig city planner Dr. Ludolf Colditz bought the monastery grounds and remained committed to fruit cultivation. In 1946, the Colditz family was expropriated. After reunification, the family reacquired the property and founded a foundation.
