Regular church services and concerts as well as church and cemetery tours and the talking gravestones make the Süderender St. Laurentii Church from the 13th century an attractive destination. The imposing building often hosts small concerts that sell out quickly. In the associated cemetery, the "talking" gravestones tell the life stories of the Föhr whalers and captains, one of the most famous of whom was probably "Lucky Matthias". The long history of the St. Laurentii Church goes far back into the Middle Ages. The remains of the first Romanesque church and the jambs made of heavy boulder granite can still be seen on the outer walls today. https://www.foehr.de/st-laurentii-kirche-in-suederende
