Archemerberg

Highlight • Summit

Many people know the Lemelerberg, but skip the Archemerberg. In my opinion completely wrong, what a beautiful hill. Varied by Dutch standards quite rough looking nature and great views!

In the center of Vechtdal lies the old Hanseatic city of Ommen. Originally, Ommen is a settlement near a shallow part of the river Vecht, which originated around 1100. The city law was awarded in 1248 by the bishop Otto. In 1492 Hessel Mulert was commissioned to build a bridge. There, where the parish hall stands today, a bridge house was built in 1532. The bridge house was rebuilt in 1758 and 1925 modernized again. Then it was expanded in 1955 to its present size. Today Ommen with its many campsites is known primarily as a tourist destination. In the summer months, many events are planned there, such as the well-known Ommer "Bissinghtage" and the Bissingher Fairs (every second Tuesday in July).

Besthmenerberg Observation Tower

Highlight • Viewpoint

It is a steel tower of no less than 18 meters high. I decide to climb up and I start in good spirits. I soon realized that the stairs are quite steep and that I find climbing up quite exciting. But once I'm at the top and have recovered from the climb, the view is grand and compelling.

Highlight (Segment) • Climb

Nice climb, from Lemele the climb is a bit longer but gradual. From the other side, the last part is especially steep! Upstairs there is a spacious parking lot and a cozy restaurant!
