The 79-year-old, experienced helicopter pilot, who holds a valid pilot's license, had demonstrated his helicopter the day before the accident from almost the same takeoff point without any incidents. Before the start of another demonstration on the second day of the event, he performed a 180-degree turn shortly after takeoff at around 4:15 p.m., before then flying sideways to the right to the area above the runway assigned to him for his demonstration.
