Beautiful church open most days (excluding Sunday) to pop in and take a look. The recent church dates back to 1494.

Green, open and family filled. Safer than a typical park IMO

Left path (while going northbound) is supposed to be for cyclists, walkers on the right side path, but adherence is low for both groups.. Not so safe with snow/ice and road bike tyres (28mm) but lots of fun. Gentle uphills travelling due north. Smooth surface till you cross Barnet lane heading westbound, gets real rough after that but ends soon on Alan Drive. Dog walkers & runners around.

Brent Reservoir is a good place to escape the urban nature of London, especially on the Welsh Harp Open Space, or north side of the water. There are trails that go through the woods, and the reservoir is often busy with canoeists and small sailboats. There are plenty of ducks and swans to look at too, as well as lots of benches to rest on. The north shore is also part of the Capital Ring, a circular walking trail of around 78 miles (125 km) in length that circles London.

An old village that’s somehow not been swallowed up by London. St Mary the Virgin church dates back to 1494 (much rebuilt in that time) and there are several beautiful historic buildings around it.

October 18, 2023, Muswell Hill Road

This is unfortunately a busy main road with lorries buses and vans. If you wish to avoid it, there are routes along Creighton Avenue or Durham Road and Twyford Avenue. If you wish to bypass Muswell Hill, there is a nice route using Church Lane, Leslie Road, Creighton Avenue, Coppetts Road, Wilton Road, Goldwyn Vale and the road closure at Grosvenor Road. If you wish to get to New Southgate of Friern Barnet there is a nice route via Crieighton Avenue, Coppetts Road, Sutton Road, and a long down hill along Sydney Road.

This is a wall of a climb when heading eastbound up Dollis Road but great fun too. A little busy at times. You get a nice break at the top with the Finchley shops with a place to pull over and pant for a while.
