An overall beautiful lake with a great path to go around. Although in the summer with warm weather it can also be very busy. Via the adjacent Vennradweg it is also top to reach by bike.

The Bütgenbach dam was built between 1929 and 1932. The main function of the dam is to regulate the course of the Warche river. This created the lake of Bütgenbach. It is a starting point for beautiful, popular hiking routes: for example, a 10-kilometer walk can be made around the lake.

The viaduct is beautiful to see from a distance, but on the viaduct you have a wonderful view of the surroundings. The panorama board explains what you see.

This sign belongs to the 96 km long circular hiking trail "Weg des Gedenkens" (Path of Remembrance) which was opened in the spring of 2015. The path runs through striking places of war history in the German-Belgian border area via existing hiking trails in Büllingen, Bütgenbach and Waimes on the Belgian side and the municipalities of Hellental and Monschau in Germany. Along the way, 30 multilingual information panels explain the historical events surrounding the Ardennes Offensive, smuggling, the Westwall and many other themes. Here it becomes clear that a lot happened in the region over the centuries and that there were different borders. Moreover, there were many conflicts and wars in the region. Border stones, bunkers and monuments are the silent witnesses of this. (Tourist office Bütgenbach)
