Opening hours: 10:00 - 19:00 Price: 17.50 Euro per person You didn't have to queue too long to buy tickets at the counter. Perhaps also due to the time of year/season. A beautifully landscaped botanical garden, which can be walked with good footwear. I would rather not recommend flip-flops. Although a few sections were closed due to "small" construction sites, it was acceptable. After visiting the garden, we also looked at the villa and the "old" walls. A very entertaining place! Let the tour wind down with a cappuccino and a cola. A MUST SEE!!!!

An extraordinary houseboat on Lake Como, a masterpiece of modern architecture designed by the same architects as the Velasca Tower, here evoked in the name "Velarca." https://fondoambiente.it/luoghi/la-velarca

Villa Carlotta is a prestigious historic residence from the late 17th century: the harmonious blend of art and nature attracts an average of over 1,000 visitors per day each year. The complex includes a museum filled with masterpieces (by Canova, Thorvaldsen, Hayez) and an immense 70,000-square-meter botanical garden, famous for its spring blooms of azaleas and rhododendrons.

Antonino Pigafetta
February 16, 2026, La Velarca

The Velarca is a houseboat usually moored opposite Comacina Island on Lake Como. Upon first viewing, it's immediately apparent that it's composed of a salvaged hull and a custom-designed living unit. The approximately 22-meter-long wooden hull is that of a Larian gondola, a transport vessel from the early 20th century. On this foundation, a multi-room family living space was created, designed by the renowned Milanese firm BBPR (Banfi, Belgiojoso, Peressutti, Rogers). The designers are the same ones who completed the landmark Torre Velasca project in Milan in 1960. Source: https://fondoambiente.it

The Lago di Piano Nature Reserve house houses a small museum and is a good starting point for a hike around the lake. Cyclists can pick up a circular route brochure in Italian and English at home.
