The highlight is essentially a small plateau consisting of two levels. It is also a pass at 960 meters. On the upper level, there is a memorial from which there is a beautiful view of Friuli. On the lower level, there is an Alpine building and a slightly larger shrine.

Just outside Cividale, you are immediately immersed in the countryside with beautiful vineyards on both sides. There is a slight incline along the way, but it's never difficult.

Pian delle Farcadizze, above Faedis and not far from Canebola, is located at an altitude of 780 meters and is a well-known crossroads for those who cycle or walk on the slopes of Mount Joànaz. Porzus is also not far away, the place where a massacre occurred in February 1945, considered one of the most tragic and controversial of the Italian Resistance. In these areas it is very easy to find fresh spring water to quench your thirst.

Nice bridge avoiding passage across the creek. Watch out it can be slippery by wet weather.

THE MACCIDE The Topli Uorch huts, better known today as the Porzus huts, were the scene of the most serious internal clashes of the Italian Resistance during the Second World War. The Porzûs massacre matured within a harsh ideological and border contrast between the Osoppo formations, composed of Christian Democrat militants, socialists, shareholders and monarchists, and the Garibaldine formations, expression of the Italian Communist Party, in a context exacerbated by annexationist aims Yugoslavia on Eastern Friuli and by mutual accusations of treason between the two Italian resistance groups. In the last months of 1944, the IX Korpus of the Yugoslav Liberation Army claimed vast areas of Eastern Friuli from Yugoslavia, requesting, at the same time, that all Italian partisan units operating in the disputed lands pass under their own operational dependencies. In the face of the Yugoslav claims, the Italian formations assumed divergent attitudes. Osoppo refused to comply with the request of the IX Korpus, while the Command of the Garibaldi Natisone Division accepted operational dependence on the Yugoslavs. In December 1944, upon specific orders from the IX Korpus, the Garibaldi Natisone Division moved into Slovenian territory, definitively abandoning the Friulian theater of operations. The Osoppo formations, whose effective numbers were seriously reduced by the German raids and by the harsh winter conditions, remained the only Italian ones operating in the area. In the months that followed, the Osovani were subjected to intense pressure and a violent smear campaign aimed at removing them from the areas claimed by the Yugoslav army. Rumors of connivance with the fascists were artfully spread to discredit the Osoppo formations. On 7 February 1945, a unit of the GAP (Patriotic Action Groups) dependent on the Friulian Federation of the Communist Party treacherously attacked the Osoppo unit, which was located in the complex of the Porzûs pastures. The commander and political delegate from Osova were immediately killed, along with a woman and a young man captured in the area. A partisan daringly managed to escape under the blows of the gappists. Sixteen other partisans were arrested and taken to the valley, where they were interrogated and, except two, killed in the following days in the vast area of the Bosco Romagno. The huts are located at the end of a concrete road about 1 km long, extremely steep in some sections.
