The Carolinum Gymnasium in Neustrelitz on Lake Glambeck is one of the largest grammar schools in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, with approximately 1,100 students and approximately 90 teachers. At the initiative of Finance Minister Roderich Hustaedt, a former Caroliner, the government and state parliament of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Strelitz decided in 1922 to build a new school building on Lake Glambeck.
