The memorial to the victims of fascism in Neustrelitz at Marienstraße / Friedrich-Wilhelm-Straße near the train station was erected in 1949 and is a listed building. The memorial was erected in 1949 as a square, 20-meter-high obelisk made of hard-fired dark bricks, with a metal spike and standing on a stepped square base. It was inaugurated on September 11, 1949. In a pointed-arch niche is a plaque bearing the inscription: "TO THE VICTIMS OF FASCISM." The plaque had to be replaced in 1997 after being destroyed.
