No traffic road cycling routes around Ur are not a primary feature of this ancient Sumerian city. The region is historically significant for its archaeological sites, such as the Ziggurat of Ur, and is characterized by an arid landscape. While the nearby Mesopotamian Marshes offer unique ecosystems, the immediate surroundings of Ur are not developed for contemporary outdoor activities like road cycling. The focus for Ur remains on its rich historical legacy and archaeological exploration.

This is a shortcut from Bolvir to the village of Guils along a road in perfect condition, narrower than usual and with hardly any traffic, much quieter than the main roads. Starting from Bolvir, at the church of Remei, the road climbs gently in the beginning, then inclines and becomes more difficult in the final stretch, without any impossible gradients. Since this is a section with hardly any trees, the panoramic views of Sardinia are very beautiful, although you may have to stop and look back if you are climbing towards Guils.

It is a beautiful chapel next to the town of Bolvir, which in turn is next to one of the best hotels in Spanish Cerdanya. This chapel marks the beginning of one of the 2 variants (the hardest, along a narrow but in perfect condition road) to reach Guils, and later to the Guils - Fontanera cross-country ski resort.

It is a flat route along narrow paved roads where barely 2 cars pass each other and that allows access from Bolvir to the Fontanals golf area without the need to go through Puicerdà.

It is a very narrow road, with the asphalt in perfect condition, that connects Sanavastre with Fontanals. I usually use it as part of my journey to Puigcerdà / France from Prats as alternatives to the 2 main roads with a lot of traffic (the one that goes through Alp and the national road that comes from Bellver de Cerdaña). Highly recommended because it also has very good views.

It is an ideal place to spend the day in summer with the family, with a small stream and places to settle down for a picnic in the shade of trees. There are cows and horses grazing peacefully, and it has a beautiful balcony overlooking all of Cerdanya. From here a track starts that goes to the Malniu refuge.

A great alternative to get to France from Alp without touching the main road. Except for the month of August, the rest of the months are highly recommended.
