Tips from the Community

Mattia Pastore
August 2, 2026, Mugliaröö Alpine Huts

Mugliaröö is on the way to the beautiful Val d'Antabia. The path up to here is very steep, and even after that, there is another steeper section where around 350 meters of altitude must be overcome in a tight zigzag. After the two stream crossings, it finally becomes flatter and also visually more varied.

For me, Val d'Antabia, especially the plateau right in front of the hut, is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. Getting there is very demanding, with 1,000 steep meters of altitude to overcome from San Carlo. Once you arrive at the top, it feels like looking into (mountain) paradise. The plain is absolutely flat, small fish swim in the various riverbeds, butterflies flutter in front of your nose, and there is a peace and idyll that is truly magical. An absolute dream.

On the way to or down from Val d'Antabia, there are two larger mountain streams to cross. Neither poses a problem with normal water flow. This one has concrete elements that allow for a dry crossing even with a lot of water, but the terrain is relatively flat anyway, so for example, a dog that doesn't like to jump over it can simply walk through the water on the rocks behind it. (I'm a dog owner myself and have done this with my dog.)

A so-called Splüi, as they are often found in Valle Bavona. They were or are still partly used as stables or storage places.
