ATTENTION: Very dangerous path. The bridge is barely passable, only with great courage and daring balancing acts. The path is unmanageable in the rain as it is very slippery, even in dry weather. Many fallen trees that can only be passed with great effort and climbing. Not for people with a fear of heights. Very adventurous and dangerous. From the point where the paved path ends, you need a lot of time. It is not a path in the "let's take a walk around the lake" style.

Pico da Cruz viewpoint – Wide views over the Azores landscape From Pico da Cruz, an impressive panorama opens up over the green hills, the coastline, and with clear visibility, even as far as Lagoa do Fogo. The viewpoint is located in a quiet and somewhat secluded spot, ideal for a short break to enjoy the vastness and silence of the island.

We did the tour today (as of the end of March '26) and it was really exciting. The "wooden bridge" is practically non-existent. If the hike is to start from the left, this is a good point to turn back. For everyone else: walls are climbed with ropes and you hack your way through the jungle. In some places, the "path" is also no longer recognizable... Sure-footedness and good (hiking) footwear are essential! Those looking for adventure will find it here.

We had to turn back again, as the bridge is no longer passable. Or it was too dangerous for us.

The bridge is currently in very poor condition. Only two rotten beams remain. It's doable, but definitely dangerous.

Great views of Lagoa Verde and Lagoa Azul. However, a more beautiful view is located a little away from the crowds. Additional parking is available just below the viewpoint.

One of the most famous views and photo opportunities in the Azores. It's no longer an insider tip! Many visitors enjoy treading on the unique natural surroundings even outside the barriers, but a visit to this vantage point is still a must!
